SWING- Frequently Asked Questions

Sporting Women INto Golf
What is SWING?
SWING is a non-competitive, fun, golf organization for women in Eastern MA and Southern NH.
Do I have to be a good golfer to join SWING?
SWING has golfers with all different levels of playing ability. SWING does not emphasize low scores when playing. The emphasis is on having a good time golfing and good speed of play.
Do I need a handicap?
No handicap is needed to join SWING. Scores at each golf outing are NOT turned in.
Can I get a USGA handicap through SWING ?
No, check with your local golf course.
Is there any competition at SWING events?
Even though SWING events are not tournaments, we do have a voluntary competition; two longest drive holes and two closest to the pin holes. Women that wish to participate in this contest can do so by entering at a cost of $1 a hole. At the end of the day, the women that hit the longest ball on the designated fairways or the closest to the pin on the designated par-3 holes will win the pot.
How much does it cost to join SWING?
The 2008 membership fee is $75.00. Once you become a member you will be emailed access to the "Private Web Page for SWING members". There you will learn the rules of SWING and learn how to sign up for a SWING event. All SWING members also receive FREE a one year subscription to Tee Time Magazine.
My I attend one event to 'try it out'?
Yes, we offer a $5.00 TRIAL MEMBERSHIP - After one event if I decide to join SWING I will deduct the $5 Trial Membership Fee from the regular membership fee.
Are there any discounts available for members?
SWING offers a mature golfer membership fee. If a woman is over 55 years old the membership fee is reduced to $65.00.
There are two female golfers in my home. Are there any discounts available for us?
Yes. SWING has an "Additional member in the Same Household" discount. The cost is $120.00 total for two members living in the same home.
How many women attend each event?
At each event we average about 40 players. Only a few SWING events have a limited number tee times, therefore registration is based on a first pay first play basis.
How many golf courses will be played in 2008?
We have booked over 20 different events for 2008 in MA, NH & RI.
What is the average age of the women members ?
We have women of all ages, there are no age requirements to join SWING. In the past we have had members as young as 23 and as mature as 81. I would guess the average age to be around 45.
How do I sign up?
Complete the application form and mail it in to the address posted at the bottom of the application along with your check. Once you become a member you will be emailed a web page address which will give you access to the "Private Web Page for SWING members".
